About This Event
ConiFriends is partnering with local high school Key Club volunteers for
an educational & hands-on invasive species removal project in subzone
2 of the Antoine Peak Conservation Area. Join us as we work to protect
our local ecosystem by removing non-native plants to make room for
native growth. We will provide a brief introduction on how to identify our target invasive species: skeletonweed & knapweed. Plus, instructions on how to effectively mechanically remove taproots. Snacks & refreshments will be provided!
Event Details:
Location: Antoine Peak Conservation Area, subzone 2. Please meet at the Trentwood Trailhead (Etter Ranch addition).
Directions: From I-90, take exit 291B and head north on Sullivan Road
for 2.1 miles. Turn right on Wellesley Ave and continue for 1.0 mile.
Stay straight as Wellesley becomes a private road leading to the
trailhead; the parking area is 0.2 miles ahead on the left.
Experience Level: No experience is necessary. This is a great opportunity for learning new conservation skills!
About: ConiFriends is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization dedicated to raising funds and volunteering to plant native
conifers and restore habitats around the Spokane area.
